ASTRAL are the Urban Riga Open Season 5 champions, claiming the $3,000 top prize after a dominant run through the $5,000 event. They did not have it easy — Leo pushed them all the way in the final — but ASTRAL had just enough quality at the critical moments to close it out.

The Road to the Final

The tournament's group stage saw eight teams compete in a round-robin format, and ASTRAL established themselves early as the team to beat. Their defensive structure was consistent across every map, and their ability to convert on T-side when rounds were tight separated them from the rest of the field.

Leo were the second-best team throughout and arrived at the final with a clean run of their own. Esport BERG showed enough to earn third place, beating SINQU REHTI in the semifinal that decided the lower placings.

The Semifinal Stories

The first semifinal — ASTRAL vs SINQU REHTI — was one-sided on paper and mostly delivered accordingly. ASTRAL's economy management was a level above, and their AWP presence kept SINQU REHTI reactive rather than proactive throughout. A clean 2-0.

The second semifinal told a different story. Leo vs Esport BERG went the full three maps, with BERG leading after map one before Leo steadied themselves and took the next two in close fashion. The deciding map came down to late-round situations that Leo converted with composure — exactly the kind of closing quality that made them credible title contenders.

The Final

Leo came into the final with momentum and pushed ASTRAL harder than any team in the event. Map one was the closest the final got — Leo led through the CT half and had every chance to take it, but ASTRAL's T-side closer rounds reflected their quality under pressure. They took the map and never fully released the momentum.

Maps two and three were more controlled. ASTRAL's structure tightened, their reads were sharper, and Leo found fewer openings to work with. The final scoreline flatters ASTRAL slightly — Leo competed until the end — but the result was deserved.

My Take

ASTRAL were the best team in this field across the full event, and that matters. Urban Riga Open Season 5 is not IEM Cologne, but it is a competitive regional environment where teams take the result seriously — and ASTRAL beat everyone put in front of them.

Leo deserve credit. A team that reaches the grand final and takes it to a genuine contest is not a team going through the motions. Their semifinal comeback against Esport BERG and their map one performance in the final showed real quality. They will be a team to watch in the next event.

Esport BERG's run to third place was the small story of the tournament. They were not expected to push Leo to three maps in the semifinal, and they did. Across the event they showed they belong in this bracket, even if the top two were a level above.
