Champions

Falcons are the IEM Cologne Major 2026 champions, claiming the title with a commanding 3-0 victory over FURIA in the Grand Final. It is the biggest result in the organisation's history — a Major trophy secured in Cologne without dropping a single map in the final.

The Road Through the Bracket

Falcons arrived at the Grand Final as arguably the form team of the playoff stage. In the quarterfinals they edged out Vitality 2-1 in the closest match of their run — a three-map series where individual quality on both sides was constantly tested. ZywOo made Vitality competitive throughout, but Falcons had the closing ability that mattered.

The semifinal against Spirit looked daunting on paper. Spirit had swept through Stage 3 with donk and sh1ro operating at a level that looked untouchable. Falcons answered with a 2-1 series win that was genuinely hard-fought — Spirit took the second map in dominant fashion, but Falcons steadied themselves and closed out the decider when it mattered most.

The Grand Final

FURIA reached the final with serious momentum. They had been the standout team of Stage 3, qualifying 3-0 and not dropping a map. In the playoff they swept Aurora 2-0 in the semifinal without looking troubled.

None of it translated on the day.

Falcons took all three maps cleanly. The scoreline — 3-0 — does not fully capture how complete the performance was. FURIA, who had looked untouchable through their run, had no answer for the way Falcons controlled pace across every map. YEKINDAR, so dominant in the group stage, was repeatedly neutralised before he could impose himself.

The result is Falcons' first Major title, and the manner of it — a clean sweep in the final — makes it impossible to argue with.

My Take

Falcons earned every round of this. They were not the favourites entering the playoff — Spirit's group stage run had most people pointing at donk as the player most likely to decide the tournament. Falcons beat them anyway. FURIA looked like the most dangerous team in the bracket based on raw momentum. Falcons swept them 3-0.

The Grand Final scoreline is deceptive in one direction: this was not a hollow 3-0. FURIA are a top-five team and their Stage 3 record was immaculate. Beating them without dropping a map in the final requires a consistent, complete performance across every economy and every round — and that is exactly what Falcons delivered.

A deserved Major winner.
