Spirit and FURIA Storm Through — But Vitality's 9z Stumble Headlines Stage 3
After three rounds of Swiss action in the IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 3, two teams have already booked their playoff spots — and one result has already rewritten the narrative of the stage.
Spirit and FURIA march into the next phase with perfect 3-0 records, while B8 and PARIVISION exit without a single win. At the centre of everything else is one result from Round 2: Vitality 1-2 9z.
Round 1: NaVi Stunned, FURIA Hit the Ground Running
The first round of Stage 3 produced its biggest result immediately. Spirit dismantled Natus Vincere in a 2-0 sweep that barely felt like a contest. donk posted 38 kills at 115.5 ADR and a 1.53 rating; sh1ro went 35/17 at 99.7 ADR and 1.52. Both players broke 100 ADR on the same BO3 against one of the most defensively organised teams in the bracket. For NaVi, expected to advance comfortably, the result was a gut-punch going into a must-recover Round 2.
FURIA were just as emphatic. They swept B8 2-0, with YEKINDAR dominating at 31/22, 92 ADR, and a 1.56 rating. molodoy backed him at 33/21 and 94.2 ADR. B8 entered Stage 3 as a credible seed following their Stage 1 run, and FURIA's opening statement suggested this group would not be kind to them.
Falcons edged G2 2-1 in the day's tightest series. m0NESY led all scorers at 63 kills across three maps at 92.6 ADR and a 1.32 rating, while Niko matched the level at 60 kills and 81.4 ADR at 1.30. G2 were competitive throughout but could not close it out.
Aurora beat Monte 2-0 to open cleanly; MOUZ swept Legacy without issue.
Round 2: Vitality Fall, BetBoom Punish Falcons
Vitality vs 9z was supposed to be straightforward. Instead it produced the biggest upset of Stage 3 so far.
meyern opened the series with a 20/10 performance at 90.3 ADR and a 1.46 rating — setting the tone before Vitality could settle. luchov posted 20/14 at 94.1 ADR and 1.28 alongside him. Vitality fought back to take a map, but when the series reached map 3, neither the individual quality of ZywOo nor the supporting cast was enough. Apex faded across maps 2 and 3, and 9z held their composure to close out 2-1.
ZywOo averaged a 1.18 rating across the three maps — by no means a bad series — but Vitality's system broke down at the moments that mattered most. 9z earned it.
BetBoom put in the standout display of Round 2. Facing a Falcons side that had looked strong in Round 1, Magnojez delivered a match-defining performance: 47 kills, 29 deaths, 109.6 ADR, and a 1.57 rating — the highest individual match rating of Stage 3's first two rounds. d1Ledez backed him at 43/30 and 94.3 ADR at 1.30. Falcons were swept 2-0.
Spirit continued their run, beating Aurora 2-1. donk and sh1ro again both rated above 1.20 across the series; tN1R contributed 44 kills at 76.6 ADR and 1.22 to round out a complete team performance.
NaVi recovered with a clean 2-0 over Legacy. b1t went 32/20 at 92.5 ADR and a 1.37 rating; Aleksib posted 28/24 at 78.8 ADR and 1.43 — a reflection of both his structural role and a genuine fragging contribution across both maps.
Round 3: FURIA Qualify, BetBoom Stunned, Vitality Bounce Back
FURIA were clinical against BetBoom in a 2-0 sweep that confirmed their 3-0 qualification. YEKINDAR had his best performance of Stage 3: 39 kills, 24 deaths, 100.3 ADR at a 1.48 rating. KSCERATO posted 36 kills and 96.8 ADR at 1.46 alongside him. BetBoom, who had looked like one of the stage's most dangerous teams through two rounds, had no answer on the day.
Spirit closed out their 3-0 with a harder 2-1 win over 9z — the team that had just beaten Vitality. sh1ro led across three maps with 71 kills, 84 ADR, and a 1.34 rating. donk posted 77/59 at 92.5 ADR and 1.22 — deep BO3 numbers that reflect how far Spirit can push a series before it slips from them. dgt (9z) fought hard at the other end with 71 kills and 92.6 ADR at 1.23, but Spirit had the closing ability 9z could not match.
Vitality answered their Round 2 shock by routing MOUZ 2-1. ZywOo re-established himself: 57 kills, 32 deaths, 103.3 ADR, and a 1.49 rating — the kind of performance that underlines why Vitality remain dangerous despite the 9z result. MOUZ had no answer.
Aurora produced the result of the round outside the 3-0 race. They swept G2 2-0 with Wicadia outstanding throughout: 39 kills, 24 deaths, 105.8 ADR, and a 1.40 rating. Aurora entered Round 3 at 1-1 and left at 2-1 having dismantled a G2 side that many expected to push for qualification.
Legacy extended their unlikely run. latto led against a fading PARIVISION with 52 kills and 91.9 ADR at a 1.47 rating, backed by dumau at 50/39, 92 ADR, and 1.38. PARIVISION exit 0-3 without a single map win.
FUT kept themselves alive, beating B8 2-1. Npl posted 61 kills across three maps at 102.4 ADR and a 1.34 rating — deep BO3 output that should not be overlooked as FUT move to 1-2 and into Round 4.
Standings After Round 3
Qualified (3-0): Spirit, FURIA
Eliminated (0-3): B8, PARIVISION
2-1: Natus Vincere, Aurora, Falcons, Vitality, BetBoom, 9z
1-2: The MongolZ, G2, MOUZ, Monte, FUT, Legacy
Round 4 — What to Watch
12:00 UTC — MOUZ vs FUT
12:00 UTC — The MongolZ vs Monte
14:30 UTC — BetBoom vs Vitality
14:30 UTC — Aurora vs 9z
17:00 UTC — Natus Vincere vs Falcons
17:00 UTC — G2 vs Legacy
BetBoom vs Vitality is the clear match of the day. Two teams that both know how to win at this level but arrived at 2-1 via different routes — BetBoom through beating Falcons then getting swept by FURIA; Vitality through beating FUT, losing to 9z, then routing MOUZ. One qualifies, one faces a fifth round.
NaVi vs Falcons is the other standout. NaVi recovered from their Spirit loss to go 2-1; Falcons lost to BetBoom but bounced back. The team that advances will arrive in the playoff with genuine credibility.
Aurora vs 9z is a rematch built on form. Aurora swept G2 in Round 3; 9z beat Vitality a round earlier. Wicadia vs meyern is worth watching on its own.
Outstanding Players: Three Rounds In
donk (Spirit) is the most dominant player in Stage 3 through three rounds. His match-rating average across three BO3s sits above any other player still in the tournament. He has not had a bad map, Spirit have not lost a series, and his 115.5 ADR vs NaVi in Round 1 remains the highest single-match ADR of the stage. The floor on this player at a Major is terrifyingly high.
YEKINDAR (FURIA) has been the face of a side that no one can get close to. 1.56 vs B8, 1.48 vs BetBoom. FURIA have swept all three opponents 2-0 in Stage 3. YEKINDAR's aggressive framing of each round — creating pressure in both directions — has been the engine. Teams in the playoff will need a specific answer for him.
ZywOo (Vitality) — 1.49 rating vs MOUZ in Round 3, bouncing back from the 9z loss with no visible dip in output. The 9z series was not his failure; Vitality's structure broke around him. His Round 3 performance is the clearest signal that Vitality remain dangerous, and that the BetBoom series will come down to whether the team sustains their level when it matters.
Magnojez (BetBoom) — the 1.57 vs Falcons is the single highest match rating of Stage 3's opening three rounds. 47 kills, 29 deaths, 109.6 ADR. That performance is what carried BetBoom to the 2-1 bracket, and it is what will be expected of him again against Vitality.
Wicadia (Aurora) has delivered the quietest high-impact run in Stage 3. 39/24 at 105.8 ADR and 1.40 vs G2 in a 2-0 sweep. Aurora were easy to dismiss entering the stage. They are now one win from qualifying.
Fun Stats: Rounds 1–3
Spirit's donk across three matches: 38, 46, and 77 kills in three BO3s — 161 total kills against NaVi, Aurora, and 9z. He has not been held below a 1.22 rating in any match.
9z's meyern vs Vitality on map 1: 20 kills, 10 deaths, 90.3 ADR, 1.46 rating. In the match that defined Stage 3's opening narrative, he was the best player on the server in the opening map and set a tone Vitality never fully recovered from.
FURIA have swept every opponent 2-0: B8, MOUZ, BetBoom. They have not dropped a single map in Stage 3. If the trend continues through the playoff, they will be a genuinely difficult obstacle for any team in the bracket.
latto and dumau (Legacy) vs PARIVISION in Round 3: 52 and 50 kills respectively, at 91.9 and 92 ADR. Legacy's run to 2-1 was not accidental — two players producing identical BO3 output against a team that left the tournament 0-3 says as much about Legacy as it does about PARIVISION.
