XSE Pro League Guangzhou: Do-or-Die Day Arrives in Swiss Round 3

Swiss Round 3 arrives in Guangzhou — two teams face elimination, two can clinch advancement, and the 1-1 bracket reshuffles across four BO1s.

The Stakes Are Real Now

After two rounds of Swiss play in Guangzhou, the field has sorted itself cleanly. Four teams sit at 2-0 and are one win from guaranteed advancement. Four teams sit at 0-2 and face elimination today. Swiss Round 3 is where the XSE Pro League stops being a warm-up.

The Elimination Matches

Two BO3s today carry the highest stakes — lose, and you go home.

Luminosity vs Ninjas in Pyjamas opens at 05:00 UTC. Neither team has won a map in Guangzhou so far. Luminosity fell to Nemesis in Round 1 and then lost to Lynn Vision in Round 2 — a result that stings given how low expectations were for the Vietnamese side. NiP dropped to 3DMAX in Round 1 and then lost to Alliance in Round 2. One of these teams books a flight home today; the other survives to fight another round.

FaZe vs SINNERS is the later elimination BO3, kicking off at 13:00 UTC. FaZe's tournament has been a quiet disaster — beaten by TYLOO in Round 1, then swept by MIBR in Round 2. SINNERS lost to BetBoom first up and then fell to 9z. With broky now inactive, FaZe are not the same side that arrived in Guangzhou on paper. SINNERS will fancy their chances.

The Advancement Race

The unbeaten teams meet each other, meaning someone goes 3-0 today.

EYEBALLERS vs TYLOO at 05:00 UTC is a genuine match between two sides that have looked sharp. EYEBALLERS beat 9z in Round 1 and 3DMAX in Round 2 — the win over 3DMAX in particular a result of note. TYLOO have been equally efficient, dispatching FaZe and PARIVISION. The Swedish side with their revamped lineup versus a TYLOO side that is quietly one of the more dangerous teams in this field.

BetBoom vs Nemesis closes the day at 13:00 UTC. BetBoom have been the most convincing team in the tournament through two rounds — they beat BIG and SINNERS without being seriously threatened. Nemesis beat Luminosity and then B8 to get here. BetBoom are the clear favourite, but a team that wins two BO1s in a row in a Swiss bracket is not a team to dismiss.

The Middle Eight

Four BO1 matches decide who moves to 2-1 and who drops to 1-2 in the midfield:

08:00 UTC — PARIVISION vs Lynn Vision
08:00 UTC — BIG vs MIBR
10:00 UTC — 3DMAX vs 9z
10:00 UTC — B8 vs Alliance

BIG vs MIBR stands out. BIG beat Lynn Vision in Round 1 but then lost to BetBoom in Round 2. MIBR arrived quietly, lost to B8 in Round 1, then beat FaZe in Round 2. Both teams need the win to stay in the upper half of the bracket.

PARIVISION vs Lynn Vision is the other fixture worth watching. PARIVISION beat Alliance in Round 1 then dropped to TYLOO. Lynn Vision lost to BIG in Round 1 and then beat Luminosity — a result that has them firmly in the conversation.

Players to Watch

Jee (TYLOO) has been the most efficient fragger in the tournament so far — 39 kills, 18 deaths, 85.3 ADR across two maps and a 1.42 rating. He has not had a quiet moment. Today he faces EYEBALLERS in the 2-0 advancement match, and if TYLOO are going to clinch, his opening duels will be central to it.

Magnojez (BetBoom) leads the field in damage output with 102.7 ADR and a 1.35 rating across two maps. BetBoom as a team have been the most dominant side in Guangzhou, and Magnojez is a big reason why — 43 kills and 29 deaths across both matches, with the kind of ADR that suggests he is involved in rounds even when the kill does not land on him.

blameF (BIG) is the most interesting name on the list because his team is 1-1. A 1.40 rating and 92.7 ADR from blameF have not been enough to keep BIG unbeaten, which says something about where the rest of the team has been. Today against MIBR is a must-win, and if BIG are going to deliver it, blameF carrying is the most likely path.

What to Watch

The headline number today is simple: by the end of play, at least two teams will be eliminated and at least two will have secured their spot in the next phase. Swiss Round 3 is the first day of the XSE Pro League Guangzhou where every match has a direct consequence.
